Shopping For Diamond Earrings

Author: Angel Estrella

Every woman loves to dazzle and diamond earrings are just the accessories to make it happen. Perhaps the most classic design is a simple diamond stud, but there are also creations in chandelier, hoops, stick bar and dangle diamond earrings. In recent years, there have even been diamond earpins produced for the woman who wants to make a truly unique statement in fashion.

Diamond earrings can be very expensive and are sold based on the 3 Cs, which include color, clarity and carat weight. These three qualities are what determines the ultimate cost of a diamond. For instance, a diamond with an eyeclean clarity would be much more expensive than one with a slightly included appearance. The latter is commonly found more often in the world of retail, while the best clarity is generally found at high-end jewelry stores and in those used to create one-of-a-kind diamond earrings.

With clarity in mind, it is important to note that there is rarely an occasion where an individual could afford an eyeclean diamond. Because they are so rare in existence, they are also equally expensive. Many diamonds, though they have inclusions, are not easily seen by the naked eye. Depending on the diamond earrings, the gemstones may be used as clusters or accents. In either case, clarity is not an issue as the diamonds are too small to have their inclusions noticed. Cluster diamond earrings give a very bold appeal at a reasonable price, but with an expensive look. Accent diamond earrings, if set in white gold, can give the appearance of a much larger diamond presence just be their setting.

Not so long ago, a diamond was a diamond and that color was white. Fortunately for the woman who seeks the untraditional, there are ways that jewelers can adjust the color of the natural diamond and the result is a pink, blue, black, cognac, or yellow diamond. A genuine diamond still, but with a twist. We all remember the famous pink diamond engagement ring that a celebrity wore, which quickly led to the craze of pink diamonds. Just as these can be placed in a ring, necklace or bracelet setting, various colors of diamonds can also be used to create custom diamond earrings.

If you are planning to spend some serious cash on diamond earrings, look for those that come with an appraisal or purchase from a reputable dealer. If an appraisal is not included, take the diamond earrings to an appraiser after purchasing them. It is also recommended that you purchase from a company that offers a return policy, which is always a sign of a business that stands behind their product.
