I posted an article about "A New World Religion" ? when I somehow came upon this information about 1LT Laura M. Walker: (Source: e-zine articles.com) "1LT Laura Walker was an Army Engineer officer currently serving in Kandahar, Afghanistan. She graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in May of 2003, with a bachelor's degree in Political Science. In February of 2004, 1LT Walker deployed to Iraq with the 555th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade. In March of 2005, she deployed to Afghanistan with B/864th Combat Engineer Battalion (Heavy), where she completed her fifteen months as a platoon leader. September 2005 Updated Information: U.S. Army 1st Lt. Laura Walker, Task Force Pacemaker, was killed in action on 18 August 2005 in Delak, Aghanistan. Her awards and decorations include: the Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, Army Commendation Medal (1OLC), Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Combat Action Badge, and Air Assault Badge Please visit: http://www.west-point.org/users/usma2003/60262/ for a Memorial site that honors Laura M. Walker." ? I visited the website, and saw Laura's precious, vibrant smile. I read some of her brilliant writings, and then looked at the eulogy's that were posted. After posting one for her family, I began to cry. How many more of our children have to die in war? Should the President of any nation be required to attend the funeral of each child that perishes? What will cease war? What will stop the unnecessary deaths of precious young lives with so much promise from being cut short way before their time? I would like to call this "Laura's Cause" ? however, so many, many of our children have died in wars, on military camps, and it is time that this stops, permanently. I don't know who this article can reach. How one act can possibly make a difference when so many people have so much to attend to. I only ask that war STOP. Bring every child home, now. Close all military bases, and let the concept of war become an ancient nightmare, rather than a living hell for every parent and family member who loses their child. This is beyond politics. This is saving precious children from unnecessarily perishing. Enough of our children have died. It is time to end the cause. It is time to bring our children home, alive. |
